• Full Beaver Moon - November This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon, another gorgeous moon that's the brightest of the year, so if anyone still traps they had plenty of light. The trick or treaters had beautiful moon as well & now we watch Mother Nature bedding down preparing for winter. Someone said the woolly worms are active here so that means a bad winter coming. Our winters have become so temperate that now if we have a cold snowy winter people get upset. We have gotten so away from the natural rhythms of weather living in our boxes with central heat and air that we seldom even open the windows. We watch the fall color in Vermont on TV and early snow in Colorado and think we are in tune with Nature. Not really. I think Mother Nature is biting us in part because of our disrespect and neglect of this beautiful planet we live on. If we could take the time to watch the moon or watch the sun rise, we have to appreciate the Intelligence that created the magnificent artistry of our world. I went out on the deck in the wee hours of the morning recently to see the Perseid meteor shower and amazed by the awesome beauty sensed things were all right in the world...my interpretation of being present. Definitely worth it. ©
